Application :
◎Photography industry: Sodium sulfite is one of the important components of photographic developer, used to develop photographic negatives and film.
◎Deoxidizer, bleach and disinfectant: sodium sulfite has the effect of deoxidation, bleaching and disinfection, and is often used in textile (cooking of various cotton fabrics, which can prevent local oxidation of cotton fibers and affect fiber strength), papermaking and catering industries.
◎Bleach and cleaning agents: Sodium sulfite can be used to bleach cotton fabrics, wood and food, etc., and can also be used in the manufacture of cleaning agents.
◎Wood remover: lignin remover for paper making
◎In organic industry, it is used as a reducing agent in the production of m-phenylenediamine, 25-dipyrazolone, aminosalicylic acid, etc.
◎Stabilizer: Used in the textile industry as a stabilizer for artificial fibers.
Physical and chemical properties:
Appearance | white crystalline powder |
Odour | Odorless and slightly sulphate |
Solubility | At 33.4℃, the highest solubility is about 28%, easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is alkaline, insoluble in ethanol, insoluble in liquid chlorine and ammonia. |
PH | 9-9.5 |
Density | 2.633g/cm³ (15.4℃ ) |
Oxidation | Oxidation is readily oxidized to sodium sulfate in air. |
